The is a lot of hype at the moment about people reverting back to simple methods for numerous things like single speed bikes with back peddle brakes or cool thick twin fin surfboards and fashion well its always doing the 30 year cycle thing. Are the eighties cool at the moment?

But when the guys on the Central Coast harnessed their year 10 woodwork skills to recreate some wooden boards the trend spread like wild fire.

Local shaper Jarrod Gibson has even started shaping and selling 100% wooden bodyboards to a hungry market of people who are all hanging out for a little taste of the retro feeling.

Brendan Turner shot this little session on the Central Coast in waves I don't imagine our ancient surfing ancestors would of actually chosen to ride on these simple shapes.
