Spring is here. Its hard to believe but the calendar year is entering its last quarter and today, the 1st of September marks the home stretch.
Spring, the transitional period between winter and summer often signals rebirth and new life. In Australia it means it's time to get those pasty legs out and pack away your socks, its shorts and thongs weather people.
Today in Sydney like mother nature herself flicked the switch it is predicted to reach 25 degrees which is about 4 or 5 above average for this time of year. Back in 1865 today reached 27.5 degrees which is the highest on record for Sydney.
Wave wise spring normally delivers a welcome change for the southern and western states with more favourable winds and warmer conditions. The eastern side of the country tends to warm quickly and the chilled morning offshore winds become rarer and less frequent.
To celebrate the change of the season I have collected some of my photographs which I think displays springtime and the colours and tones which remind me of it. Also the following brief forecast for waves state by state.
WA, small and offshore
SA, small with freshening easterly winds which will favour locations west of Adelaide
VIC, small with onshore winds
NSW, small pulses of south and north-east swell, with a stronger pulse of south swell building Sunday
QLD, Tiny with a couple of pulses of small southerly swell
TAS, Some fun swells for the South Arm over the coming few days
