Jason Finlay launched onto the scene by doing just that, launching off big sections. In the last year Jason has hosted a big air comp, travelled worldwide and hit some of the biggest ramps in the business. This sequence however come to you from a little over an hour form Jason's front door step on the South Coast of NSW.
I was lucky enough o be on hand to shoot this session and with Jason in Europe filming for a new Zion project, I thought I could tell you a little about this wave, day and rider.
On this day there was around 10-15 pretty top profiled riders in the line up, who by chance had all turned up at the same spot with no real plans made previous. With 30 knot offshore winds it was a pretty hard task for riders to get clear of the lip and most guys stuck out the grinding pits rather than hitting the sections.
After a while I found myself sending mental vibes to the guys to start to hit some sections and it was not long before the wind dropped enough and the action began.
Finlay hit this section pretty clean and got out of the lip but the offshore winds held him up there a tad too long I think. He ended up landing in the trough and getting swallowed up by the foam.
There was a heap of great sections being hit this day but by far Finlay made the most of the heaving sand banks and clean conditions with huge inverts, forward and reverse airs.
