This Sunday the 13th we invite you to come down to Cronulla and firstly watch the Brett Young Shark Island Trials at Cronulla Point. This event will start at 8am and the forecast is predicting some great waves. With two positions on offer for the Fluidzone Shark Island Challenge, the top two place getters will receive automatic entry into the 14th annual event vying for over $10,000 prize money.

A longer-range S'ly groundswell is expected to arrive during Saturday afternoon ahead of a secondary stronger pulse for Sunday morning. Due to the swell being generated just to the east of Tasmania's East Coast it will have more time to spread out and into the Sydney region, plus the larger swell periods will help the swell refract into the open beaches and southern corners. Current model guidance suggests a peak in size at around 4-6ft across south facing beaches on Sunday morning, with the possibility of an upgrade if the models intensify the front. Winds are expected to be moderate to fresh from the SW, tending S/SW on Sunday, which is great for Cronulla Point

At 3pm Emerald Surf City will host a promotional signing / meet the pro's afternoon. Emerald is the longest running bodyboarding specialist store in Australia and has a rich history with the Shark Island Challenge. Come down and grab a photo or get a signature from the likes of World Champions Ben Player and Damian King or meet your heros like Dave Winchester, Ryan Hardy, Jason Finlay, Brenden Newton, Thomas Robison and John Showell.

When 4pm comes around the competitors will move next door to the 2230 Bar Cronulla for the official contest briefing and heat draw. See the heats drawn live and get all the official schedule for this years challenge whilst enjoying food and drinks at the 2230 Bar.
