One of these three men (and possibly Michael Novy) could win the Australian Tour Title at D'Bah on the 9th - 14th of November. We caught up with the guys who strangely enough are all travelling together at the moment chasing swells on the East Coast of NSW.
It seems like this is one of the closest title races in recent years and also the fact that four of the guys all have a close chance of taking it out will make every round of the final event count and a touch more exciting than normal.
So after ten months of competition it seems that leading the race is Dave Winchester sitting in first place. Dave has won one event and placed second at another this year. Then we see Joe Clarke in second who has also won one event and placed 5th at a 5 star which counted for a big amount of points. Michael Novy sits in third and after competing in every event has a large amount of top 10 finishes, however Chad Jackson is in fourth position on the ladder. Chad sits in a good position due to the fact Novy has to drop one score which is going to be a high one. Chad also won this event last year so he knows how to read and rip the waves out there.
It all sounds confusing but when it comes down to it basically Winnie needs to get knocked out before the semi finals and whoever places higher between the other 3 will win.
For the guys this title will mean national prestige, seeding into the Pipeline event on the World Tour and incentives from sponsors. Winnie won this title 2 years ago and Joe has placed third before so the pack is no stranger to finals pressure.
This event will also co inside without he national titles. States will battle it out and with a field of 180 people the action will be thick and fast. Speaking of action you can check it out via their webcast on www.ibaaustralasia.com/live
