Editor's note: This was sent to me this evening from an elusive character known around the traps as "The Danarchist". Before we grace you with his words, we need a couple of definitions clarified...
Definition of "dispatch":
To send off or away with promptness or speed; especially to send off on official business
definition of Danarchist:
An elusive online figure with a gift for the word. rumoured to have been to several state titles. The one title he was closest to, he missed out on because he nicked home to shag the missus. A true booger.

Dispatches.
Happening from the Port Macquarie teams Challenge.
Prologue: I won't lie, it was a drag of a drive from home base down to Port Macquarie, long weekend traffic and the eratic speed zones accounting for many a delay. Still with good company, young lens man Reece Dobbin along for the ride, it wasn't long before the turn off for the self proclaimed bodyboard capital of Australia loomed into view. Where bunking down with the Port Stephens team, who are on their way out the door for a team bonding session as we arrive.
The evening begins swimmingly, talk of old times and future times and the general dribble that accompanies young men and alcohol. Dallas Singer holds court, with tales of Tamega's alpha male status on the tour after his manic display in Chile. Amongst childhood friends, not the highest rated Aussie on the IBA tour, just a bay grom made good. Talk of how heats can be won and lost before they start in the mind, and insights into the importance of the mental side in determining who holds the trophy at the end of competition.
The phrase "Got some I.D.'s their boys" puts the brakes on the evening. Some of the members of the group don't have I.D's. Some of those in the group aren't 18. Guess it was time to be heading home anyway.
It's a long cold walk through Port Macquarie in the middle of winter.
Post Script:
Morning reveals a man I haven't met sleeping on a table in my room and a collective fine of $1000 for underage drinking.
Day1:
It's cold outside. I know this because someone has wandered into the lounge room where I am trying to sleep, open the doors and blinds to check the morning surf , and then inexplicably left both open before returning to the comfort of their warm bed.
Arriving at North Wall I'm greeted with the sight of an inconsistent 2-3ft south swell, icy South West winds and grey skies. Couple this with my patchy sleep from the night before and its gunna be a long day.
The action in the water does little to lift my mood, the conditions not allowing any hi-fi action outside of the occasional grom flipbowl. Unsurprisingly, Kingy's heat produces the best waves of the day, with the disparity between the professional and amateur glaringly apparent. The other Port riders also look like they're on cruise control, dominating their heats.
In previous teams challenges, riders had been seeded according to their nominated ability, meaning that the best riders from each team would face of, leaving those of lesser ability to battle it out amongst themselves. This year it seems to have been inexplicitly scrapped, leading to the bizarre situation of Dallas having to surf a heat against three younger guys who would have probably come from the A division in there clubs. Not great for spectators wanting a high pro showdown, and definitely not good for the groms confidence.
The day limped along to it's gradual conclusion amongst an increasingly fattening wave as the tide filled in what was already at best ordinary North wall. Close of play reveals that underdogs from Sydney Bodyboard take home the bikkies for day one, Port Aussies at 2, and the bay boys sitting at thrice.
So what will tomorrow bring? As I write, "The Viking" is being consumed along with more amber ales, with plans of a follow up to last night's festivities in the mix.
Till tomorrow sportsfans.....stay lucky.....
