Bodyboarding is all about pushing the limits, the limits of one's body, the limits of one's mind, the limits of one's equipment and it challenges the limits of what everyone thought was possible. This, the TAND Invitational 2011, encompasses all of these elements.
For so long bodyboarders have been riding placid, lake waves in competitions and that's all well and good as they don't have control over mother nature, but it doesn't show the true potential of what the sport of bodyboarding is able to do, and does on a daily basis. The comradery between all its members is unmatched in any sport, and these riders and this contest is the evolution of the groundwork done by those who have gone before us.
This event is aiming to showcase all of these elements, from the adrenalin pumping action in the water to the stoked crowd on the beach cheering every rider to go harder and harder and test where their limit is.

The contest waiting period begins tomorrow, Friday 24th June, so with this in mind we would like to welcome on board, with great joy, our new sponsors for the TAND invitational 2011.

The news just keeps flowing in, as the top 16 riders have been selected and are ready to fight it out for this historic title. These are the top 4 riders voted in from each division.

You'll notice that there are still 2 unvoted open slots; these were slots whereby the riders have been pre selected by the contest directors and are not voted in as the other riders have been. They are all currently riders on the GSS (Global Super Series - the professional men's division of the International Bodyboarding Association or IBA, http://ibaworldtour.com/ ) and have a high calibre of riding in both contest and free surfs. The 2 confirmed INTERNATIONAL riders are current world #3 MARK MCCARTHY from Richards bay, South Africa and current world #8 and rookie of the year 2010 JARED HOUSTON from Tableview, South Africa. We also have Western Province rider, Adam Morley, who is currently giving the GQS( Global Qualifying Series) a shot at. He hails from the sleepy town of Mosselbay.

With a grand total of 2525 votes and over 51 000 page views so far these guys deserve their place in this event!
With the winners prize purse sitting at R10 000 along with the coveted title, each heat is guaranteed to be like a final.
