Grass Roots Clubs WBB September comp

We got to Puckies beach in the morning seeing some good sets come through, the first round of juniors got out in the water and started to rip up the fun waves to be had.
We had Jason Finlay, James Kates and Ivan Pulic arrive and he help judge for a good half of the day with Nick Hartcher, who does a great job for the club judging for pretty much all day at every comp!
The groms, opens and DK heats got in the water and everyone was surfing great seeing some good barrels and some big manoeuvres going down! About mid-way through the comp we had a half hour expression session with Jase Finlay and James Kates going head to head, it was great to watch with Finlay pulling off some sick reverse rollos and inverts and Kates was pulling off some insane inverts and flips and also getting a bit of time in the barrel! James Kates came out on-top and won the expression session!
We then moved into the finals for each division, we saw some great surfing and scores being put up!
At the end of the day before the presentation for the finals results we had a running race but we had to wear flippers and who ever won received a pair of Churchill fins from jase, it was a lot of fun and the parents had a good time watching. The winner was Jessie Mansfield by only a meter.
Overall it was a great day, the weather was great the waves were great and it was awesome to have Jase Finlay and James Kates come down to hang out and help out for the day as well to see them surf in the expression session! A big thanks goes out to all the parents that helped out for the day and also to Jason McCarthy and Tamara Smedley who do a great job throughout the year and behind the scenes organising the comps!
