Unite Clothing Company is proud to announce the signing of 17 year old Lachlan Cramsie to their Bodyboard Team. The announcement comes on the heels of Lachlan's recent success on IBA Australasia Pro Tour and his victory in the Open Mens division at the 2011 Nationals, his third Australian Title in as many years.
"Those three results [second in the VIC Pro, second in the Knights Beach Pro and first at the Nationals] were impossible to ignore," Unite Managing Director, Joel Taylor said. "He's taken the next step, and it's about time we did too. We're stoked to officially have him on the Team!"
Lachie was equally excited with the news, "I loved the brand even before I was getting flowed. Now I'm amped to be a part of Unite, and the Team, as it grows."
He had been a member of the Unite Flow Team, an unofficial program that aids in the progression of bodyboarding's youth, for a year and a half before today's announcement. The fact that there hasn't been a change to the Unite Team since Alex Halsey joined the roster in early 2009 proves that the decision didn't come lightly.
"It's always a worry putting younger riders on the Team," Joel admitted. "The sport has seen some amazing talent come and go in the past so I like to make sure that a new Team rider - especially someone of Lachie's age - is the right person, and right fit, for our brand. He fits the mould perfectly!"
He continued, "We've worked closely with Lachie over the past 18 months or so and it's obvious that he's committed to Unite and dedicated to making a career out of bodyboarding. He's one of, if not, the best [rider] for his age in Australia and we're excited to build our partnership with him well into the future."
Lachlan joins Ryan Hardy, Damian King, Michael Novy, Nick Ormerod, Winston McCall and Alex Halsey on the 2012 Unite Bodyboard Team. "It's such a privilege. I look up to everyone on the Team and I'm proud to have the same sponsor as some of the biggest names in the sport," said Lachie.
With a sixth place finish on the 2011 IBA Australasia Pro Tour, three National Titles and sponsorship backing from some of bodyboarding's biggest and best brands, the world is at Lachie's feet.
"In between finishing Year 11 at school, I want to travel and get as much footage and as many photos as I can. I just finished up at the camp [at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre], now I'm off to the Canary Islands for two weeks for the ISA World Bodyboarding Games and the Fronton comp. After that I'm heading to Hawaii for the Pipe comp."
Lachlan is sponsored by Stealth Boards, Unite, Reeflex, Inverted and Dragon.
Unite is independently Australian owned and run. For more information, visit www.unite4fun.com. To view Lachlan's Team profile, visit www.unite4fun.com/team/bodyboard/lachlan-cramsie.
