Cruz from www.bodyboard.pt has dropped us a note letting us know how to easily keep up the the IBA GQS event which is currently running as part of the whole Azores Bodyboarding festival.
Firstly though - where are the Azores? Wiki describes the location as:
"The Archipelago of the Azores is composed of nine volcanic islands situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, and is located about 1,500 km (930 mi) west from Lisbon and about 3,900 km (2,400 mi) east from the east coast of North America. The islands, and their economic exclusion zone, form the Autonomous Region of the Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal.
There are nine major Azorean islands and an islet cluster, in three main groups. These are Flores and Corvo, to the west; Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico and Faial in the centre; and São Miguel, Santa Maria and the Formigas Reef to the east."
Point is, the waves are damn sweet there.
Cruz has said:
"We took the liberty of sending you this excellent wave of Andrew Lester earlier today in the GQS comp held in Azores. As you can see the waves where pristine clean and Lester was a standout of the day with top style, controlled lines and a very clean line deep in the barrels. the oficial website covering the event:

And the Facebook page where we keep all the scores and juicy details as they happen in Azores:

Cheers and thanks a lot,
Cruz
So there you have it. If you want to keep up with things, there's a handy place to go (and yes, the page has a translator, just give it a moment to load). The Azores crew have been really good at keeping us up to speed with clips and links for the whole festival and it's appreciated. Nice to see the locals chipping in so strongly to promote their comp!
