Sometimes you get some pretty amazing gear hit the inbox. This is one of those cases. There has been so much negative media spin on Schoolies. When bodyboarding is your passion, connection with the ocean is a strong dynamic. Steven Lyons has sent in a gallery of pics to go with a great bodyboarding story. Avoiding the sheep and doing their own thing, these lads scored the good times bigtime!
Coming to end of the year everyone is wondering what they want to do for schoolies, with really only one thing on their mind "getting as drunk as possible" and not remembering the week.
Although I love having a beer with friends, Roaming the street with 20,000 drunk and stoned kids with Toolies on the prowl doesn't sound fun at all to me.
A group of us left Brisbane airport not knowing what to expect, being the first time for most of us doing an overseas trip for waves. We arrived at midnight, travelling past the poor villages which looked liked a 3rd world country. Although their country is poor, we were greeted by the happiest of people I have ever met! We got pumping waves nearly everyday, played so many pool competitions I lost count, caught 25kg GT's and had some awesome laughs. I couldn't have asked for a better schoolies trip, It was one that I can proudly say I will remember.
